Select a buffer solution closest to the pH of the sample, place the electrode in this buffer solution, and shake the beaker to make the solution uniform. Wait until the reading is stable and you can see the reading, which is the pH of the buffer solution. If high-precision determination is required, two buffer solutions are selected, that is, the pH of the sample to be tested is between or close to the pH of the two buffer solutions, and the reading of the second buffer solution is stable after reading the pH. Value, if it is unstable, you need to adjust the positioning regulator.

After that is the measurement. The pH-calibrated instrument can be used to determine the pH of the sample. At this point all regulators need to be positioned as they are. Then clean the electrode, insert the electrode into the beaker containing the sample to be tested, gently shake the beaker, and wait until the reading is stable, the pH of the sample to be tested will be displayed. Here, it is important to note that the glass electrode must be immersed in distilled water for more than one night before the first use. It should be immersed in distilled water during normal use and must be cleaned before use. In addition to this, there are a few points that need our attention:

1) Do not touch the glass electrode with strong water-absorbing solvent for too long. It should be used as soon as possible in the strong alkali solution. Wash it immediately after use;

2) Since the glass electrode bulb is very thin, it cannot be touched with the glass and the hard object;

3) When the glass film is stained with oil, it should first be alcohol, then carbon tetrachloride or ether, and finally soaked with alcohol, then washed with distilled water. If it is not, when the solution containing the protein is measured, the surface of the electrode is contaminated, which may result in a non-standard reading and a large error.

4) After cleaning the electrode, only use filter paper to gently dry it. Do not wipe it with fabric. This will cause the electrode to generate static charge and cause reading error.
